Memory

Review the lasting knowledge Iris uses across conversations.

How Memory differs from Info

About business describes your business and preferences. Memory holds short, reusable facts and lessons Iris should remember across conversations. Actions holds procedures, supporting material and dedicated access-key fields.

Memory is the shared notes editor in your Iris workspace. Iris can also update these notes as it learns. This is shared business knowledge, not a directory of customers or a chat-history editor. Private customer memory remains separate.

Format

Use plain text or Markdown. Keep facts concise, specific and useful later. Headings are optional; short bullets usually work best. The editor supports 2,200 characters, including headings and spaces. No special schema or front matter is needed. Iris may separate entries with a line containing §. Keep those separators between existing entries when editing; a new plain note can be one entry.

## Useful facts
- Gift wrapping is available for bouquets; check the current fee.
- The sizing guide is at https://example.com/size-guide.

## Lessons
- Ask for the delivery area before recommending a delivery option.
- Product photos are references, not proof of current stock.

## Checks
- Check the store for current prices and availability.
- Verify promotions before mentioning an expiry date.

Use real, verified information in place of these examples. Include a source or date when useful. Remove outdated facts rather than adding conflicting versions. Memory is not a substitute for checking live stock, prices or order status.

Before you launch

Memory is optional before your first launch. Save your business details in About business, then select Launch Iris on Home. You can add shared notes here now or later. You control when Iris starts; no separate launch request is needed.

Loading and saving

Open Memory in the sidebar. The editor loads the current notes from your running Iris, or saved notes when stopped. Loading does not launch Iris. A saved update still waiting for launch is shown as staged, not as active knowledge.

Edit the note and select Save changes. This replaces the whole shared note; it does not append. Current replies finish before the update. Other files, skills, credentials and conversation history stay intact.

If Iris learns something new after you opened the editor, the old copy will not overwrite it. The save reports a conflict. Copy your edits, reload the latest memory, merge the changes, and save again. Pending means waiting; Saved means Iris confirmed it. For an inactive Iris, changes are staged for the next launch.

Iris can continue learning after your save. Clearing Memory does not erase conversation history or private customer records, and later learning can add new shared facts.

Do not put these in Memory

Never include passwords, tokens, customer names and contact details, individual orders, transcripts or sensitive personal information. All customers share this business context. Memory does not override privacy rules, authorization or action confirmations.
